EducationCurrent 2nd year PhD student at Cornell in Mechanical Engineering
Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2011 with a 3.95 GPA
ExperienceAt RIT I tutored with many different centers. I worked at a drop in tutoring center that specialized in math and physics. I did private tutoring in math and mechanical engineering subjects. I also was a TA for several math courses. Through all of these experiences I worked with many different students from different backgrounds, of different ages, and with different learning styles. The most important job for a tutor is to identify a students need and style, and teach to that style. Due to my years of experience, I feel I can do just that.
I want to continue tutoring because I love it! It is so rewarding for me to see a student light up because something that was so confusing is no longer so. I also have a love for learning and want to share that with others who may not be enjoying learning. I also am looking to pursue a career in academia, so teaching experiences are helpful for me in pursuing my goals. I also want to show young women that they can pursue a career in math and science and encourage them if it is their desire.
I am really looking to work with high school students and undergraduates in math, physics, and mechanical engineering courses. I would also be willing to work with younger students in math since it happens to be my favorite subject!
HobbiesI consider myself to be a small town girl. I love country music, horseback riding, dance, skiing, and enjoy quiet activities like painting and reading. I have owned and taken care of my horse for the last 9 years and consider myself to be very hardworking.
