My Education: I have a PhD from Caltech in Applied Physics, and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics from Case Western Reserve University. I focus on teaching you the essential principles. Once you will master those, you will be able to solve problems with ease. You will discover the simplicity and even beauty behind what seems like a headache. I will give you multiple perspectives on the subject, and make sure you get plenty of practice. A subject that's dry and boring will end up being exciting, and not so hard after all. I provide both in-person and on-line tutoring.
Experience
My teaching and tutoring experience: I tutored students of all levels for about 20 years. I was also a TA in many classes in Physics and Applied Mathematics when I was a graduate student. The material included Calculus, Complex Analysis, Differential Equations, University Physics, as well as advanced subjects in Physics and Mathematics. In addition to this long teaching and tutoring experience, I also had fantastic role models as teachers and mentors. Through this, I came to develop my own teaching style based on the following three pillars. The first element of my teaching philosophy is nurture – to be a nurturing figure to students, in the same way that parents strive to be nurturing figures to their children. I believe in “opening doors”, rather than “directing”. The second element is learning through wrestling with challenging problems. But don't be afraid - I will not throw you into the pool and say "swim". It will be a process of guided grappling with problems, and my hand always be securely protecting you from drowning. The third pillar of my teaching methodology is the development of a mental picture or a “cartoon” aimed at revealing the essence of the subject or a problem, distilling a complicated material to its core – the skeleton to which we then attach the details of the calculation.

I tutor at all levels and ages - from Pre-Algebra to Grad-level Math and Physics. I have a PhD in Applied Physics from Caltech, and I have taught both in the classroom environment and one-on-one for many years. Perhaps my passion for science and math will rub off on you, and things that seem boring may actually start to look exciting. You will not only do better, but may even start enjoy the subject! My hobbies are dancing (I was a competitive latin ballroom dancer), nature, hiking, photography.
