Hobbies

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am from Pensacola, Florida, and went to Samford University in Birmingham for my undergraduate studies. I recently moved to Ithaca, NY to pursue graduate studies. In university, I studied both piano and voice, as well as the many other subjects that come with a music major (five courses in music theory, four in music theory lab, four in musicology, and many more liberal arts courses). My study of language began very young, and I fulfilled my language requirements through high scores on AP exams in high school. I did, however, continue exploring my love for languages through singing music from all parts of the western canon of music. I wouldn't call singing a "hobby," since singing is my profession. This summer, I will be singing a role in an opera down in sunny Miami, and throughout graduate school, I will be studying vocal performance and honing my craft. I started teaching when I was very young, as I was very passionate about sharing my love for languages with others. I taught people older than me, younger than me, and my age. In college, I began exploring my passions further, through vocal coaching and working with other singers. My passion for teaching only grew, and I still hope to share my love of languages, music, and my *own* experience enduring those tough AP exams with all who need help. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis, reading, exercising, and spending time with my family. I particularly love reading, and try to read at least a book a week!
