Experience

I completed my undergraduate degree in English at Princeton University. From there, I attended Tufts University, where I completed my graduate degree in secondary English education. After graduation, I attended seminars on the political philosophy of Canterbury Tales by Hannah Arendt and Geoffrey Chaucer, held by the National Endowment for the Humanities, spent the summer studying art history at the British Institute of Florence, attended International Shakespeare Summer School at the University of Cambridge, completed a Fulbright archaeology fellowship at the American Academy in Rom, and obtained a special education certification from Northeastern University.For more than a decade, I've worked as a teacher and tutor, teaching students in grades 6 through 12. I've worked with students studying a variety of subjects, including sociology, philosophy, psychology, and history. However, my career has mostly been focused around teaching English, writing, and literature. I also have experience preparing students for standardized testing and helping them create compelling college admissions essays. I truly enjoy tutoring students, and look forward to each student having his or her "a-ha" moment where everything they are working so hard to learn finally clicks. I tutor students in reading, writing, literature, grammar and mechanics, American history, psychology, public speaking, English, social sciences, and social studies. I also offer test prep services for the GED, PSAT, SAT, and GRE, tutoring for ESL/ELL students, and assistance for students having trouble editing and writing college essays.
